Local Arts and Crafts
Our Gift Shop collection includes knitted clothes made of handspun wool blends from local sheep farms; wooden, hand-carved hiking sticks, canes, and letter-openers; decorative and utilitarian pottery, handmade delicate jewelry, and much more.
Books
Peeler Pottery: A Retrospective Putnam County Museum’s publication (2009) is a tribute to nationally-known Peeler Pottery. With a personal message and story written by Marj Peeler, the book is a compilation of photographs of the vast, impressive collection of Richard and Marj Peeler’s pottery and sculptures. The book is also available for purchase on eBay.
Our Past, Their Present: Historical Essays on Putnam County, Indiana, John J. Baughman. An engaging overview of the county’s history told through true stories, interesting facts, and personal accounts, written by DePauw University Professor Emeritus of History, John J. Baughman.
Clodfelter Pioneer Days, compiled by Hubert Clodfelter and Malcolm Romine, edited by Paul Clodfelter. The book is “a collection of true stories and events about the descendants of Solomon Clodfelter,” covering the family history from 1830 through 1940.
